Dr. Heinz-Josef Florian (*1955)
ist ein deutscher Komponist und Klangkünstler, dessen Schaffen sich an den Schnittstellen von akusmatischer, algorithmischer, Live-Elektronik-, Instrumental- und audiovisueller Musik bewegt. Als Mathematiker lehrte er am Institut für Computermusik und elektronische Medien (ICEM) der Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen – dort eröffnete er seinen Studierenden die ästhetischen Potenziale stochastischer Verfahren, chaotischer Systeme und fraktaler Strukturen in der Musik.
Florians Werke erklingen auf internationalen Bühnen der elektroakustischen Musik, wurden im Rundfunk gesendet und bei renommierten Festivals wie dem ICMC, FEMS, MUSLAB und NYCEMF präsentiert. In Zusammenarbeit mit Freunden entstanden zudem Live-Elektronik-Performances in Deutschland, Israel und den USA.
Als Mitglied der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Elektroakustische Musik (DEGEM) sowie der Gesellschaft für Neue Musik Ruhr (GNMR) engagiert sich Florian aktiv in Netzwerken, die den Austausch über zeitgenössische musikalische Entwicklungen fördern.

Dr. Heinz-Josef Florian (*1955)
is a German composer and sound artist whose work explores the intersections of acousmatic, algorithmic, live electronic, instrumental, and audiovisual music. As a mathematician, he taught at the Institute for Computer Music and Electronic Media (ICEM) at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, where he introduced students to the aesthetic potential of stochastic processes, chaotic systems, and fractal structures in music.
Florian’s compositions have been featured on international stages of electroacoustic music, broadcast on radio, and presented at renowned festivals such as ICMC, FEMS, MUSLAB, and NYCEMF. In collaboration with friends and fellow artists, he has also developed live electronic performances in Germany, Israel, and the United States.
As a member of the German Society for Electroacoustic Music (DEGEM) and the Society for New Music Ruhr (GNMR), Florian is actively involved in networks that foster dialogue on contemporary musical developments.
